Short Excerpt:
Holden dressed me that first day out of the box. He dressed me and left me in his bedroom on his bed. I sobbed until my body had no more liquid to expel. I curled into a tiny ball and willed everything not to be true. At some point, probably mid-day, he came in with a bucket, washcloth, and tray of food. He gently, tenderly almost, sat me up and fed me. Small bites. He murmured that things would be okay. That I would see. When the food was gone, he lifted my dress from my body. I stared at the wall unmoving. He dampened the washcloth and washed me head to toe. There was nothing sexual about it. It was simply cleaning the filth and stench from my skin. If I’m honest, I almost enjoyed it. Being clean is something we take for granted. He left me in his room after a swift kiss on the crown of my head until dinner. He brought in a tray and fed me again. Afterward, he brushed my hair free of all the knots and braided it. When he finished I laid back down and squeezed my eyes shut so tightly that the apples of my cheeks began to burn.

Sonja's Review

The Tutor is the first K. Larson book I have read and I have to thank her fellow K. author for being so excited about it and recommending this book! As with any new author, you never know what to expect and while I had a little case of the nerves a few times, I was eager to dive in and see what would happen to our heroine. And I really liked The Tutor - it was completely unique and I haven't read anything like it.

Just like I really liked the book, I really liked Nora. She's incredibly intelligent, observant, and wise. She's strong and even if it doesn't make sense all the time, she owns the way she feels. Nora is kind, sweet, loyal, and she would anything to protect someone she loves. She's brave and tough and I respected her. Nora is wonderful and she has a good heart.

I don't want to spoil anything so I'm not going to tell you too much about The Tutor. There were weird times, fun ones, heartwarming moments, and heartache-y ones too. I laughed, I gasped, there were parts that shocked me and others that socked me in the gut. The Tutor was dark and twisty, light and wistful, and had nuggets of depth to it as well. I enjoyed reading it and I can't wait to read Ms. Larson's next book!

The Tutor is a standalone, it's told from multiple points of view and I won't tell you how it ended, but I will say that I think it ended the way it should have and I was happy with it.
